I spend a lot of time thinking about my clients, and I summarize my ideas in weekly progress notes. To minimize wear and tear on my wrists, I dictate to a voice-input program on my computer.
This type of software has finally come of age, and its accuracy in transcribing my words is amazing. But all hearers, human or otherwise, make mistakes, and this program is no exception. Recently I dictated the sentence:
Recommend that couple develop relationship rituals.
It appeared on my screen as:
Recommend that couple develop relationship with trolls.
Now that’s thinking waaaay outside the box.
