Free consultation
I offer a free introductory phone consultation so we can figure out what would be most helpful for you. Possibilities include scheduling a first session, referral to another counselor, or recommendations for self-help books, videos, and web sites.
If we decide to meet, we’ll discuss fees. I know it can be difficult to spend money on yourself, but your relationship is worth it, and an investment now can protect you from much higher emotional, legal, and health costs in the future. We’ll work hard to get you on your feet, and out of therapy, as soon as possible.
Reduced rates
I offer reduced rates for sessions scheduled between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays.
Payment
You may pay by cash or check at each session. If you prefer to use a debit or credit card, please let me know in advance, and I will e-mail you a PayPal invoice.
Insurance
It may be in your best interest not to use health insurance to pay for relationship counseling. Here’s why.
I don’t accept insurance directly. If you request, I’ll provide a monthly receipt and your provider may reimburse part of the charges. To check, call the 800 number on your insurance card and ask if you have “out-of-network” benefits. Please note that insurance providers often refuse to cover therapy for relationship or sexual issues.
